Doris Kirschner, is a well known soprano and voice teacher in the Chicago area. She made vocal chamber music one of her specialties, having been a founding member of The Chicago Ensemble. She formerly sang with the Chicago Symphony Chorus and was a soloist on several occasions with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, singing under the baton of James Levine at Ravinia and Georg Solti at Orchestra Hall. She was a cantorial soloist for 8 years in temples in Oak park and Buffalo Grove. A native of Kentucky, she began her musical studies at the Cincinnati- College Conservatory, beginning piano studies at the age of 6 years. Currently, she is soloist at the First Presbyterian Church in Woodlawn, teaches voice, is a voice therapist and a speech therapist. Her students have been participants and winners in numerous workshops and contests as well as winning lead roles in community, college, and high school concerts and theatre productions.
